As I Lay Dying
Intriguing and entertaining, but not one of my favorite of Faulkner's. Apparently he wrote this and didn't touch a word of the first draft...and it shows. Granted, his unpolished beginnings are lightyears ahead of most writers in terms of quality and craft. However, when you hold As I Lay Dying up against some of his other work, such as The Sound and the Fury or Absalom, Absalom! - it pales in comparison.
